- Graduating senior at an Ohio high school who plans to major in a field relevant to the newspaper industry, particularly journalism, advertising, marketing, or communications degree program at an Ohio college or university.
- Enrolled as a college freshman at an Ohio college or university for the 2015-2016 school year
- Minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA
- Must be African American, Hispanic, Asian American or American Indian
