Criteria:

  • High school junior or senior
  • Must write an essay between 800 and 1,600 words based on Ayn Rand’s Novel, The Fountainhead; Select one of three topics listed on the website http://essaycontest.aynrandnovels.org/TheFountainhead.aspx?theme=blue
  • Essay will be judged on both style and content
  • Judges will look for writing that is clear, articulate and logically organized
  • Winning essays must demonstrate an outstanding grasp of the philosophic meaning of The Fountainhead
  • Employees of the Ayn Rand Institute, its board of directors and their immediate family members are not eligible for this contest
  • Past first-place winners are not eligible

Amount: $10,000 (1 award); $2,000 (5 awards); $1,000 (10 awards); $100 (45 awards); $50 (175 awards)
