Criteria:

  • Must be an 11th or 12th grade student attending a school in the Fourth Federal Reserve District, which includes Ohio, western Pennsylvania, eastern Kentucky, and the northern panhandle of West Virginia.
  • Each entrant must be under the supervision and direction of a teacher
  • Must craft an essay, poem, play, or short story based on the following questions:
    What do you think has been the most significant advancement in the last 100 years?
    What impact has it had on our economy?

  • Written compositions must be no more than three typed pages, double-spaced, single-sided, in 12-point type with 1-inch margins. (Page limit does not include title page and bibliography.)
  • Judging based on: comprehension of topic, organization, conclusions, creativity, and clarity

Amount: First Place: $500 Cash Gift Card; Second Place: $250 Cash Gift Card; Third Place: $100 Cash Gift Card
